What is the Chakra Balance Diagnostic?

Chakras (Sanskrit for "wheels") come from yoga and tantra traditions in India. The system most people know today describes seven centres running from the base of the spine to the top of the head. Each one is linked with an area of ordinary life: safety and money, pleasure and feelings, confidence and will, love and connection, speaking and listening, intuition and insight, and meaning.

The usual idea is that energy should move freely through all seven. Where it gets stuck, that area of life feels difficult. Most quizzes online stop at "blocked or open". That is too simple, because the two ways a chakra can be out of balance feel completely different. An under-active throat centre swallows its words. An over-active throat centre talks over everyone. The cure for one is the opposite of the cure for the other.

So this diagnostic scores every chakra on both scales. You get an activity level from 0 to 100, where 50 is the balanced middle, below 40 reads as under-active and above 60 reads as over-active. You also get a harmony score, which says how settled that centre looks regardless of which direction it leans. The report then names your focus chakra, your strongest chakra, and the overall shape of your pattern (lower-heavy, upper-heavy, or even).

This is a self-report questionnaire wearing a traditional costume. It cannot see your energy. What it can do, quite well, is turn a vague feeling of "something is off" into a specific sentence like "safety and belonging is the need that feels least met right now", which is a much easier thing to work with.

How it works

There are 32 statements, four or five per chakra, rated on a 0 to 4 scale (not like me = 0, very like me = 4). Every statement is tagged as a healthy-flow sign, an under-active sign or an over-active sign. Healthy-flow statements are reverse scored for under-activity, so agreeing with "I feel safe and settled in my home" lowers your root chakra under-active score.

For each chakra we take the average of the under-active items (plus the reversed healthy-flow items) to get an under score from 0 to 1, and the average of the over-active items to get an over score from 0 to 1. Activity level = 50 + 50 x (over minus under), kept between 0 and 100. Harmony = 100 minus 100 x (0.7 x the larger of the two scores + 0.3 x the smaller), so a centre that leans hard in one direction scores lower than one that is mildly mixed.

The report shows your raw under and over numbers for all seven centres, so you can check the arithmetic. Your focus chakra is the one with the lowest harmony. The seven day plan alternates between your two lowest, and draws its breath, movement, journal prompt and affirmation from whichever direction that centre leans.

How it connects to your star sign

Modern energy writers pair each chakra with a zodiac sign: Capricorn with the root (steady, practical, grounded), Cancer with the sacral (feeling and nurture), Leo with the solar plexus (confidence and will), Libra with the heart (love and balance), Gemini with the throat (words and ideas), Sagittarius with the third eye (searching and insight) and Pisces with the crown (spirit and dissolving boundaries). Your report shows the signs for your focus chakra and your strongest chakra, with a plain explanation of why the tradition links them, so you can compare it against your own sun sign.

Common questions

How do I know which chakra is blocked?

Look at the harmony column in your report. The centre with the lowest harmony score is the one asking for care, and the activity level tells you which way it leans. Below 40 means under-active (you are holding back in that area). Above 60 means over-active (you are overdoing it).

Can a chakra be too open?

In this system, yes. Over-activity is just as unbalanced as under-activity. An over-active heart centre gives until it is empty. An over-active solar plexus pushes to burnout. The practices for over-activity are about pausing and boundaries, not more effort.

How long does the quiz take?

About five minutes. The 32 statements are shown one at a time, so you can answer quickly on first instinct, which usually gives a more honest result than deliberating.

How often should I retake it?

Every two to four weeks if you are working on something. Your scores genuinely move with your sleep, your workload and your relationships, so the change between two attempts is often more informative than any single result.

Is a chakra imbalance a health problem?

No. This is not a medical test and it cannot detect any condition. Chakra language describes everyday feelings and needs. If you have a symptom that worries you, please see a doctor rather than a quiz.
